Dermatologist
Dr. Renata Ruiz was born in Brazil and moved to the United States at age 18. Graduating as valedictorian from Boston University, she subsequently completed her medical education at the University of Massachusetts. She then completed her internal medicine internship and dermatology training at Brown University.
Dr. Ruiz provides complete dermatological care, including medical, surgical, and cosmetic. Her research interests focus on the treatment of multi-ethnic skin and diversity within the dermatology field, as reflected in her peer-reviewed publications. Dr. Ruiz is very passionate about volunteering, patient education, and advocacy, and is an active member of the Women’s Dermatological Society, the Skin of Color Society, and the American Academy of Dermatology. She has published many dermatological educational pieces in Brazilian magazines and newspapers, participated in radio talk shows raising awareness of dermatological diseases, led free clinics in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and traveled abroad for medical mission trips. With fluency in Portuguese and Spanish, Dr. Ruiz aims to communicate with patients in their native languages.
Outside of work, she loves to spend time outdoors with her family and her dogs, Lucky and Teddy. She also enjoys traveling and has visited over 20 countries.
